Estuary Group Practice

ABOUT US

The practice is long-established and we moved to our purpose built premises, in Gowerton, in 1996. The practice is a partnership practice (non-limited) providing medical services under a General Medical Services contract with Swansea Bay University Local Health Board. The premises have been designed to allow wheelchair access and there are several disabled spaces in the car park next to all surgeries. We have branch surgeries at Gowerton Health Centre, Penclawdd Surgery and Pen Y Bryn Surgery (Gorseinon).

We aim to provide total healthcare, with antenatal, postnatal, baby & children clinics, diabetes, asthma clinic, minor surgery, and a variety of health-promotion activities as well as the usual medical services.

We are also a training practice and continually have GP registrars with us at Gowerton, supervised by the partners. They are fully-qualified doctors who join the practice to complete their specialist training in general practice and who have already spent at least three years working in hospitals. They will often have more time to spend with you. We may ask you if we can video-record your consultation as part of the training programme but you do not have to agree.

Our practice is a community teaching practice for Swansea University Medical School, Cardiff University School of Medicine and King's College London School of Medicine.  With the supervision of your doctor or nurse, medical students may, with your consent in advance, to join your consultation.  This is one way medical students learn to become good doctors and understand patient views about their care.  We appreciate your help with their learning.  Please let your doctor or practice manager know if you have any questions about our community medical teaching.
